A cheap ring isn't too big of a deal; it can always be replaced later if it's an issue. My own ring was very much on the cheap side, but it's because I've never owned an expensive piece of jewelry before in my life. I made it clear to my partner that having an expensive ring would only make me anxious about losing it.

I know that before my fiancé got on one knee, we sent each other proposal reels on Instagram. Some were funny, cringe, or totally out of the realm of reality, but it gave him an idea of the type of proposal I would want. There are people that wouldn't mind a living room proposal. I think asking for a re-do and seeing how he reacts is totally okay for this couple.

Boyfriend's lackluster proposal and cheap ring leave disappointed bride-to-be reconsidering wedding and wondering if a low-effort proposal is a sign of a dull marriage: "He asked me in our living room"
Ladies of the internet, what is your dream proposal? I mostly just wanted it to be at a pretty location, I wanted to be surprised, and I wanted beautiful pictures of the event. My fiancé totally delivered when the time came to ask for my hand. In restrospect, I should have seen it coming. We were on vacation with his family – including his photographer-due brother and girlfriend. My partner proposed on the third day of the trip at sunset by the sea, and I was totally caught off guard despite the fact that he had had the ring in his pocket since we landed, and the whole family had been secretly signaling to each other about it the entire trip.
In our story today, a young woman can't help but feel disappointed in her husband-to-be's proposal. The ring is cheap, but it's less about that and more about the fact that he got on one knee in their living room while she was still reeling from a long day at work. Internet commenters are split. On one hand, a proposal is a blip in the grand scheme of marriage, but on the other, it could be a sign for things to come.
